Back again with some random musings! Josh has been working weekends lately so I had the house to myself for the weekend. I was able to tackle lots of nagging chores, get a couple workouts in, and write about some of my favourite things at the moment! Enough rambling from me, let’s just jump in an do this.

Honest Floor Cleaner – The Honest Co.

I’ve often heard how great The Honest Co. products are, but since I never happened to see them while out shopping and I didn’t make the effort to order online, I wasn’t able to see what the hype was all about. Keep in mind I am not a big shopper, I get groceries and that’s about it so the odds of me stumbling across these was pretty low. Last weekend I stopped by Indigo in Charlottetown and came across a whole display of The Honest Co. products. I needed floor cleaner so figured it was a good opportunity to try out their goods. Now, at our house we are dealing with what I like to call a “drool dilemma”. The cause: a 60 lb valley bulldog named Riggs who drools like a running faucet when you get him breakfast, supper, or he thinks he’s getting a treat. When I got home I scrubbed down the floors using my new citrus rosemary floor cleaner and it was fantastic! It did a great job getting the Riggs residue off the floor and didn’t have a strong scent so it wasn’t overpowering. Love this cleaner and will definitely be trying out more of their products!

Natural Deodorant – Island Natural Compounds

If you know me at all you know I love natural products. The thoughts of slathering harmful chemicals onto my body gives me the creeps. I’ve tried out several “natural” deodorant products but never came across one I loved. I wanted to make my own, but let’s face it, I just don’t have the time to take on all the little projects that I want to do. In addition to natural, I love local products. If I have the opportunity to purchase something made here on our little sandbar, I do it in a heartbeat. One day this summer my mother and I were playing tourist and stopped by The Makers, a seasonal shop in Rustico, PEI that sells products from around the Maritimes. I grabbed this deodorant and hoped for the best. I wanted to use it for a while before singing it’s praises because some of these products work well in some situations (i.e., office days) but not others (i.e., sweaty workouts). I’m very pleased to say that this deodorant holds up no matter what I’m doing. Sorry about the terrible picture, after sitting in the bathroom for a couple of hot showers the label started to run a little!

Lengthening Mascara – Beauty Counter

I’m not one to wear make up. Ever. But when I do, I want to put something on my face that has as few chemicals as possible yet, still does what I want it to. I have sensitive eyes so I have to be careful what mascara I use or the next day I am red, puffy, and look like I’ve had a rough night. After seeing all the hype about Beauty Counter I was intrigued by their claims. A friend of mine distributes the products so I started off with the charcoal cleansing bar. I absolutely love it so I asked about the mascara. I’ve used it a handful of times now and it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for! I have long lashes already so I don’t need one of these volume, 3D, fake lashes products that seem to be floating around everywhere right now. If you’re looking for a good basic mascara then this will be your jam. One note worth mentioning (thank you Courtney for giving me a heads up on this!!), this mascara contains beeswax, so to get it off you need to use oil, not soap. No big deal as long as you know what you’re getting into up front!

That’s it for me! Off to get ready to carve some pumpkins, watch Hocus Pocus, and make some Halloween themed treats!
